Anand Pandit

Pandit entered the media and film industry in 2000 and spent fifteen years producing, distributing and financing before putting his own name over a door. Anand Pandit Motion Pictures was founded in November 2015, and the first title on its own published list is not a production at all. It is Pyaar Ka Punchnama 2, where the company is the distributor.

That is a small detail with a large tell inside it. A production house that starts with a distribution credit is telling you which resource it thinks is scarce. In Indian cinema the finished film is not the bottleneck. The screen is.

In 2016 his company produced Days of Tafree, directed by Krishnadev Yagnik. It is the Hindi remake of Chhello Divas, the Gujarati film that had just restarted the industry, and it is the earliest point at which Pandit's money touches Gujarati material. It is also the last time he tried it that way round.

Six years passed before his banner appeared on a Gujarati language film. When it did, in August 2022, the transaction had been inverted. He was no longer taking a Gujarati script into Hindi. He was taking a Hindi star into Gujarati.

Fakt Mahilao Maate released on 19 August 2022, produced with Vaishal Shah, with Amitabh Bachchan appearing in a Gujarati film for the first time. It reported around Rs 20 crore. 3 Ekka followed on 25 August 2023 and reported around Rs 26.11 crore. Fakt Purusho Maate came in August 2024, Bachchan included again. Chaniya Toli released on 21 October 2025 on a reported budget of Rs 5 crore and reported a gross of Rs 22.80 crore.

Put that next to his own Hindi ledger and the logic stops being sentimental. Chehre, which he produced in 2021, carried a reported budget of Rs 25 crore. Chaniya Toli cost a reported fifth of that and out-reported it comfortably. Regional cinema is often pitched to Mumbai money as cultural duty. Pandit is one of the few people treating it as a return on capital question and answering it in public.

The company's published list runs across Hindi, where Total Dhamaal, Sarkar 3, Missing, The Big Bull, Chehre, Thank God and Swatantrya Veer Savarkar sit, Marathi, with Well Done Baby, Baap Manus, Musafiraa, Jilabi and Hardik Shubhechha, Kannada, with Kabzaa in 2023, and Gujarati. Dhamaal 4 and Haunted 3D: Echoes of the Past are listed for 2026.

Ten of the thirty six titles are ones he did not produce. Seven are distribution jobs, from Baazaar to Doctor G, and three are presenter credits, including Drishyam 2. Presenting and distributing other people's films is unglamorous and it is also the leverage. A producer who only produces has to wait for someone else to decide his film opens on a Friday. Pandit is frequently the person making that call for somebody else.
