Aishwarya Majmudar

The story is always told as a talent show story. Fifteen year old wins STAR Voice of India Chhote Ustad, goes on to Music Ka Maha Muqabala on Himesh Reshammiya's team, becomes a playback singer. The order is wrong. She recorded her first Gujarati playback song for the film Ghar Maru Mandir in February 2003, roughly five years before the show, as a child.

That matters because it changes what the show was. It was not a discovery, it was a national platform handed to someone already inside the Gujarati recording industry. She had the option most winners never get: keep working in the language she started in. She has eight albums under her own name, Saat Suro na Sarname, Paalav, Swarabhishek, Videshini, Niralo Mukaam, a nursery rhymes record, Sapna Sathe Aishwarya and Allak Mallak, and three Gujarat State Awards for Best Playback Singer to show for staying.

Here is the split, checked against each film's own page rather than against hers. As Majumdar: a track on Sharato Lagu released 25 October 2018, Chandaliyo on Naadi Dosh released 17 June 2022, and two songs on Trisha on the Rocks released 21 June 2024 including Lai Ja and its Hindi version Thehre Ye Lamhe. Nine films, one artist, two surnames. And on the Kevi Rite Jaish page the award line reads Best female playback singer, Aishwarya Majumdar, Bheeni Bheeni, at the 2012 BIG Gujarati Entertainment Awards, while the track listing three paragraphs above spells her the other way.

Kevi Rite Jaish in 2012 is the film credited with restarting the industry. Hellaro in 2019 is the only Gujarati film to win Best Feature Film at the National Film Awards. Laalo in 2025 is the highest grossing Gujarati release on record, reported at around Rs 120 crore. She sings on all three.

The Hellaro credit is worth doing the arithmetic on. That soundtrack is four songs and eighteen minutes forty four seconds in total, composed by Mehul Surti with lyrics by Saumya Joshi. Asvaar, which she sings with the Kutchi Sufi singer Mooralala Marwada, runs four minutes three seconds. A film built entirely on garba gave more than a fifth of its music to a duet between a television talent show winner and an eleventh generation village singer, and put it first.

On 29 July 2026 her Instagram held 1,089,222 followers across 5,752 posts. That post count is the highest of any Gujarati music figure we have scraped, roughly three times Kinjal Dave's and nearly double Jignesh Barot's, on a fraction of the following.

The bio explains the difference. It names a manager, Rima Majmudar, and a separate enquiries number for an artist management firm. This is a managed career with a professional layer between the artist and the booking, which is the opposite of the folk circuit model where the bio is a phone number. She posts constantly and converts less of it into followers, because her business is film sessions and ticketed shows rather than village dates won on reach.
