Gujarati Films on OTT: Where to Watch 20 Titles

Vash premiered on ShemarooMe on 26 April 2024, fourteen months after its theatrical release, and it is still there: a fetch of shemaroome.com/movies/vash on 29 July 2026 returns a live product page for the film. The 117 minute original is the one to watch first, before the Hindi remake and before the sequel, because it is the version where the black magic is a village problem rather than a production design budget. Hitu Kanodia, Niilam Paanchal, Janki Bodiwala, Aaryan Sanghvi and Hiten Kumar are the whole cast, and Kedar and Bhargav's score is doing more of the work than the effects are.

The timing of that ShemarooMe premiere is the interesting bit. It landed on 26 April 2024, seven weeks after Shaitaan, the Hindi remake, opened in cinemas on 8 March 2024 with Ajay Devgn. Anybody who came out of Shaitaan curious about the original could find it on a Gujarati subscription service almost immediately, which is not an accident of scheduling. Vash then won Best Gujarati Feature Film at the 71st National Film Awards and Janki Bodiwala won Best Actress in a Supporting Role for it. shemaroome.com/movies/kutch-express returns a live page, and JustWatch's India offer data points at the same URL as the film's only Indian streaming option. That is worth stating plainly, because Kutch Express won three National Film Awards at the 70th ceremony, including Best Actress in a Leading Role for Manasi Parekh, and it is available on exactly one platform in the country. No Netflix, no Prime, no rental. If you do not subscribe to ShemarooMe you cannot legally watch a National Award winning Indian film.

That is the strongest argument this page can make for why the ShemarooMe concentration matters. A Gujarati film can win at the highest level Indian cinema awards and still have a distribution footprint of one service. Compare it with Chhello Show, further down this page, which went to Netflix because it carried an Oscar submission and an international festival run. The difference between those two outcomes is not quality. It is whether a film crossed into an audience that a national platform already knew how to sell to. Watch the 134 minutes for Ratna Pathak Shah as Baiji, who smokes bidis, runs the village women's collective and is better company than anyone else on screen.

Seven women from rural Gujarat fly to London and spend the film colliding with language, class and the version of themselves they left at home. It opened on 24 January 2025, is reported anywhere between Rs 13.3 crore and Rs 17 crore depending on which tracker you believe, and shemaroome.com/movies/umbarro was serving a live page on 29 July 2026. Abhishek Shah, who made Hellaro, directed it as a remake of the 2021 Marathi film Jhimma, and the ensemble runs Vandana Pathak, Kaajal Oza Vaidya, Suchita Trivedi, Deeksha Joshi, Tarjanee Bhadla, Tejal Panchasara, Vineeta Joshee and Aarjav Trivedi.

This is the entry to point a first-time viewer at, and the reason is practical rather than critical. Umbarro is a road movie about women who do not speak the language of the country they are standing in, which means it carries subtitles and cultural distance built into the plot rather than bolted on. Somebody who has never watched a Gujarati film can start here without needing the context that a Gujjubhai comedy quietly assumes. Being on ShemarooMe rather than a national platform does mean the discovery problem stays unsolved: nobody browsing Netflix will trip over it.

A man needs a passport, the paperwork needs a wife who does not exist, and the lie has to be maintained long past the point where it is funny. Manish Saini directed and wrote the screenplay, adapting the 2016 Tamil film Aandavan Kattalai, with Malhar Thakar leading opposite Monal Gajjar and Darshan Jariwala. shemaroome.com/movies/shubh-yatra returned a live page on the check date. Deepali Chhatwani of the Times of India gave it 3 out of 5 and Nandini Oza of The Week gave it 4 out of 5.

The credit that makes it worth finding is on the production line. Nayanthara and Vignesh Shivan backed this through Rowdy Pictures, their first Gujarati production, alongside Amdavad Films and Satyam Movies. Two of the most powerful names in Tamil cinema financed a Gujarati remake of a Tamil film, and the result is now sitting on a Gujarati subscription service where almost nobody outside the language will find it. That is the streaming economy in one sentence: cross-industry money can get a film made, and it still cannot get it onto a platform your relatives already pay for.

An eighty year old woman is handed four options by a government scheme: take revenge on her sons and their wives, restart a long lost romance, buy herself a life, or do all three. Manish Saini wrote and directed it for Amdavad Films with Neela Mulherkar in the central role and Malhar Thakar, Tiku Talsania, Vandana Pathak, Vyoma Nandi, Utkarsh Mazumdar and Shekhar Shukla around her. It is reported at Rs 8 crore, and shemaroome.com/movies/jai-mata-ji-lets-rock was live on 29 July 2026.

This is the one on the list most likely to be mis-sold to you by a thumbnail. The title reads like a broad comedy and the poster does nothing to correct that, but Kanksha Vasavada of the Times of India rated it 3.5 out of 5 for handling old age humorously without being cruel about it, and Ganesh Aaglave of Firstpost called it a heartwarming slice of life dramedy. Streaming actually helps a film like this, because the audience it was made for, people who will watch an octogenarian lead without needing a star, is easier to find one household at a time than one screen at a time. The poster was launched at an old age home in Ahmedabad, in front of the people the film is about.

A woman and two accomplices set out to honey trap a man for revenge, and the plan turns on them morally long before it turns on them practically. Nisarg Vaidya directed it from a script by Viraf Patel, Kapil Sahetya and Chetan Daiya, Parthiv Gohil and Manasi Parekh produced under Soul Sutra with RD Brothers Movies, and it runs 141 minutes with Manasi Parekh as Meghna, Viraf Patel as the target, and Swapnil Joshi, Deep Vaidya, Mehul Buch, Esha Kansara and Tusharika Rajyaguru filling it out. shemaroome.com/movies/shubhchintak was live on the check date.

No lifetime gross was ever published for it, which makes streaming the only place it now has a measurable audience at all. That is true of a large slice of the Gujarati mid-budget slate and it is the strongest practical case for the ShemarooMe subscription: films that vanished from theatres uncounted are the ones you can only see here. Viraf Patel co-wrote and acts in it, and Swapnil Joshi, one of the biggest names in Marathi cinema, made his Gujarati debut with this film. Neither of those facts made it into a box office table, because there is no box office table.

Aditya has decided to end his life and three strangers arrive and ruin the plan. Chinmay Parmar wrote and directed his first feature from that premise, running 115 minutes with Yash Soni, Aarohi Patel, Mitra Gadhavi and Mihir Nishith Rajda, Rahul Munjariya scoring and Panorama Studios distributing. Kanksha Vasavada of the Times of India gave it 3.5 out of 5, praising the debut direction and the music and noting that the second half drags. shemaroome.com/movies/mithada-maheman returned a live page on 29 July 2026.

There is a practical reason to reach for this one on a platform rather than in a cinema. It is a debut feature by a first-time director on a subject nobody markets well, with an eight-name producer list that includes Krishnadev Yagnik putting his own money behind a first timer. In a theatre that combination sells almost nothing. On a subscription service where you have already paid, a 115 minute film by a new director costs you nothing extra to try, and if you are going to gamble a Sunday afternoon on an unproven Gujarati filmmaker, this is the safest gamble on the list.

Nilkanthrai Mehta has lost his wife, lives alone in the family house in Sundarpur, and invents an imaginary friend called Chandu to get his scattered children and grandchildren to come home. They come, then sit on their phones, so he announces the house is becoming an old age home and sets the family a traditional games competition to stop him. Deepak Antani directed, Gaurang Bhavsar and Ashok Upadhyaya wrote it, and Manoj Joshi carries the 120 minutes with Mehul Buch, Manav Rao and Bhavya Sirohi. It released on 27 June 2025 timed to Ratha Yatra, and shemaroome.com/movies/goti-lo was live on the check date.

It was co-produced with ISH Creations in the United States, which is diaspora money going into a modest Gujarati production rather than a prestige one, and that is exactly the kind of film streaming was supposed to serve. A Gujarati family in New Jersey is a plausible audience for a film about grandchildren who will not look up from their phones, and a cinema in Ahmedabad is not how you reach them. No lifetime gross was published. The trailer went out on YouTube and social platforms simultaneously, because at this budget that is the entire marketing plan.

A man starts hearing what women actually think, and 137 minutes later has learned considerably more than he wanted to. Jay Bodas directed it from Karan Bhanushali's script for Anand Pandit and Vaishal Shah, with Yash Soni and Deeksha Joshi leading and Amitabh Bachchan in a special appearance. It is reported at Rs 20 crore, which put it among the biggest Gujarati earners of its year, and shemaroome.com/movies/fakt-mahilao-maate returned a live page on 29 July 2026.

This is the commercial Gujarati comedy at full strength, and it is a useful calibration point if the only Gujarati films you have streamed are the award winners. The reported Rs 20 crore came out of a genuinely mainstream high concept, not a festival pedigree, and the same producers came back three years later with Chaniya Toli at a reported Rs 22.8 to 23 crore. A Bachchan cameo in a Gujarati film in 2022 also tells you how early the outside interest started, well before the 2025 numbers made it look obvious.

The film that proved a Gujarati comedy could be a business rather than a hobby, and the reason a generation of producers kept funding the language at all. Siddharth Randeria brought his Gujjubhai stage character to the screen on 18 September 2015 under his son Ishaan Randeria's direction, and it became one of the highest grossing Gujarati films of its era. shemaroome.com/movies/gujjubhai-the-great returns a live page, and JustWatch's India offer data points at the same URL as its only Indian option.

Its presence in a streaming library is a small piece of preservation. Gujjubhai is a theatre character first, built across years of live Gujarati stage work in front of paying Mumbai and Ahmedabad audiences, and most of that stage material is simply gone. The films are the only durable record of a comic persona that carried an entire regional theatre economy. If you want to understand why Siddharth Randeria appears in four separate films on this site's 2023 list alone, watch this one and the arithmetic explains itself. The sequel GujjuBhai: Most Wanted is on Amazon Prime Video rather than ShemarooMe, which is a useful reminder that a franchise does not travel together.

A period action film in a language whose commercial output was almost entirely urban comedy at the time. Vijaygiri Bava directed and co-wrote it with Gireesh Parmar, Twinkle Vijaygiri produced under Vijaygiri Filmos, and the cast runs Abhimanyu Singh, Happy Bhavsar, Mehul Solanki, Aarohi Patel, Malhar Pandya, Namrata Pathak and Maulik Nayak. shemaroome.com/movies/premji-rise-of-a-warrior returned a live page on 29 July 2026, and JustWatch's India data also logs a listing on the Vi movies and TV service.

Streaming is what makes a film like this legible in hindsight. In 2015 Premji looked like an outlier that did not fit the new wave story anybody was telling, which was Chhello Divas, Gujjubhai and urban youth comedy. Ten years later, with Kasoombo and a slate of period and folk material behind it, the outlier reads as the first draft. That reassessment is only possible because the film is still one click away instead of sitting on a hard drive in Ahmedabad, and it is the single best non-commercial argument for these libraries existing.

Twelve years after the original, ten schoolgirls jump from a terrace in unison and Atharva is back inside a fight he thought was finished. Krishnadev Yagnik wrote and directed again, Panorama Studios distributed it on 27 August 2025 together with a Hindi dub titled Vash Vivash Level 2, and Janki Bodiwala returns alongside Hitu Kanodia, Monal Gajjar and Hiten Kumar. It runs 103 minutes and is reported at Rs 16 crore. Netflix's own title page at netflix.com/in/title/82175331 confirmed it as Watch Vash Level 2 on the check date.

It reached Netflix on 22 October 2025 in both Gujarati and Hindi, which is under two months from theatrical release, and that speed is the whole point. Compare it with the original Vash, which took fourteen months to reach ShemarooMe. What changed in between is not the filmmaking, it is the fact that a Hindi remake with Ajay Devgn had already taught a national audience the premise. Netflix was not buying a Gujarati horror film, it was buying the sequel to something people had already paid to see in Hindi. National platforms follow proof, they do not create it.

A nine year old boy in a remote Saurashtra village hitches rides to the local cinema and falls in love with light itself. Pan Nalin wrote and directed it, and it is the Gujarati film with the widest international footprint of any on this page. Netflix's own title page at netflix.com/in/title/81496006 returns Watch Chhello Show, which is the detail that trips people up: search Netflix India for Last Film Show and you may not find it, because the platform lists it under the Gujarati title.

It is also the only entry here where the Netflix deal came before the domestic audience rather than after. The film travelled the festival circuit, was India's official entry for the Academy Award for Best International Feature Film, and arrived at a national platform on the back of that global run rather than on the back of an Indian box office number. Set it beside Kutch Express, a National Award winner stuck on one Gujarati subscription service, and the rule becomes clear. Indian recognition does not open the national platforms. International recognition does.

A rickshaw driver is trapped in a farmhouse and works through his past in visions of Krishna, shot around Junagadh at Bhavnath, Girnar, Damodar Kund and Narsinh Mehta no Choro. Ankit Sakhiya directed and co-wrote it, Reeva Rachh, Shruhad Goswami, Karan Joshi and Mishty Kadecha lead it with no star name on the poster, and Smmit Jay composed all seven tracks. It is reported at around Rs 120 crore worldwide, the first Gujarati film past Rs 100 crore, and in May 2026 it became the first Gujarati film screened at the Cannes Film Festival.

It is on SonyLIV, and the confirmation runs two ways. sonyliv.com/movies/laalo-krishna-sada-sahaayate-1090505515 returns the film's own product page with the title and cast in its metadata, and the film's official Instagram account, laalothefilm.official, scrape-verified on 29 July 2026 with 145,216 followers, carries the line Now streaming on SONY LIV in its bio and a link button reading Watch Full Movie On Sony LIV pointing straight at sonyliv.com. That is the producer and the platform agreeing, which is as clean as this gets. It is also the most counter-intuitive listing on the page: the biggest Gujarati film ever made is not on the Gujarati platform, it is on a Hindi general entertainment service, because that is where the Hindi dub audience already was.

Two childhood friends, one long argument about what friendship is actually for, and 150 minutes that ran fifty weeks in theatres. Abhishek Jain directed it for Nayan Jain under CineMan Productions from a script by Bhavesh Mandalia and Niren Bhatt, with Manoj Joshi, Darshan Jariwala, Divyang Thakkar, Pratik Gandhi, Amit Mistry, Kavin Dave and Samvedna Suwalka. Sachin-Jigar scored it. It was made for a reported Rs 2.25 crore and took a reported Rs 8.5 crore, and it became the first Gujarati film screened at the New York Indian Film Festival.

JustWatch's India offer data logs it on Amazon Prime Video and, separately, as a rent or buy title on Apple TV India, which makes it one of only two films on this page with a paid transactional listing alongside a subscription one. That dual shelf is what a genuine catalogue title looks like: old enough that the streaming rights have been resold more than once, popular enough that somebody still thinks a rental is worth listing. Fifty weeks in theatres in 2014 is the reason. Bey Yaar is where Pratik Gandhi's screen career effectively starts, six years before Scam 1992 made him a national name.

A driver and bootlegger arrives at the scene of a hit and run that killed two constables, and spends the film finding out how much of somebody else's crime he is expected to carry. Mikhil Musale directed it from a script by Karan Vyas, himself and Niren Bhatt, inspired by a 2013 hit and run in Ahmedabad. Pratik Gandhi leads with Kimberley Louisa McBeath, Asif Basra, Kavi Shastri, Hetal Puniwala, Siddharth Randeria and Ragi Jani. It won Best Feature Film in Gujarati at the 64th National Film Awards.

The producers are the story you should not miss. Nayan Jain of CineMan produced it with Vikas Bahl, Vikramaditya Motwane, Madhu Mantena and Anurag Kashyap through Phantom Films, which is to say that four of the most influential figures in Hindi independent cinema put their names on a Gujarati thriller in 2016. Eight years later Vikas Bahl directed Shaitaan, the Hindi remake of Vash. A father, a son and a confession that reorders everything either of them thought they knew, adapted from Dr. Vivek Bele's Marathi play Katkon Trikon. Umang Vyas directed it, Ratan Jain and Ganesh Jain produced it under Venus Films, and Dr. Vivek Bele, Uttam Gada and Aditya Rawal share the writing credit. Paresh Rawal leads with Manasi Parekh and Chetan Dhanani across 138 minutes. Dhawalika Sing shot it and Ketan Mandiwale cut it. JustWatch's India offer data logs it on Amazon Prime Video.

Paresh Rawal doing a Gujarati lead is the sentence that sells this, and it is rarer than people assume. He has one of the longest careers in Hindi cinema and comes from Gujarati theatre, and here he takes a chamber piece adapted from a Marathi stage play with his son Aditya Rawal on the writing team. Venus Films, a Hindi music and film house, financed it. Nothing about that combination is a regional-film calculation. It is a theatre project that happened to be made in the language everyone in the room already spoke, and Prime Video is the reason it did not disappear after March 2022.

A romantic drama about three people and the arithmetic of wanting the wrong one, running 146 minutes with Malhar Thakar, Pratik Gandhi and Aarohi Patel. Saandeep Patel directed it, Aarti Patel produced, Sachin-Jigar scored it to Niren Bhatt's lyrics and Tapan Vyas shot it. It is reported at Rs 8 crore in India. This is the widest digital footprint of any film on the page: shemaroome.com/movies/love-ni-bhavai returns a live page, and JustWatch's India offer data additionally logs it on Amazon Prime Video and on JioHotstar.

Three platforms for one 2017 Gujarati romance is worth pausing on, because none of the National Award winners here manage that. What Love Ni Bhavai has instead is a Sachin-Jigar soundtrack that outlived the film and a cast that all became more famous afterwards. Pratik Gandhi went to Scam 1992, Malhar Thakar became the most reliably cast lead in the language and Aarohi Patel built a following of her own. Streaming rights get resold to whoever thinks a title will still be searched for, and a good soundtrack keeps a film searchable for a decade after nobody remembers the plot.

Karan goes to the Narmada with a chip on his shoulder and comes back changed, in an adaptation of Dhruv Bhatt's Gujarati novel Tatvamasi. Rahul Bhole and Vinit Kanojia wrote, directed and edited it, Paresh Vora produced under Brainbox Studios and Baroda Talkies, AA Films distributed, and it runs 158 minutes with Chetan Dhanani, Monal Gajjar, Prashant Barot, Yatin Karyekar, Muni Jha, Daya Shankar Pandey and Abhinay Banker. Reva is the film to reach for if you want to argue that Gujarati cinema has a literary tradition rather than just a comedy one. Tatvamasi is a serious novel by one of the language's major writers, and the adaptation went out on three platforms, which is more distribution than most Gujarati literary adaptations will ever see. Rahul Bhole and Vinit Kanojia went on to direct Bachubhai in 2023 and All the Best Pandya in 2025, so this is also the origin point of a directing partnership that is still working. Twelve people, one house party, Rs 12 crore on the table and a midnight blackout that makes the money vanish. Viral Shah directed and co-wrote it with the actor Hardik Sangani, Jyoti Deshpande and Masumeh Makhija produced under Jio Studios and The Creative Tribe, and the entire 118 minute film was shot at a single location in Bhavnagar between 1 and 17 July 2021. Malhar Thakar leads with Vandana Pathak, Dharmesh Vyas, Kamlesh Oza, Vinita Mahesh, Vyoma Nandi and Ojas Rawal. This is the only film on the page that never played a cinema.
